Awards Committee Nominate
SGC activities to the Federation of Garden Clubs for awards.
Civic Beautification Committee Beautify Sudbury
through installing and maintaining plantings throughout town and providing a
weekly floral design at Goodnow Library
Feeley
Park - plant annuals at
the beginning of the sports season
Heritage Park
- plant geraniums and other annuals throughout Town
Center in May, plant mums and
spruce–up Heritage
Park in September and
monitor the park throughout the year
Library - annuals
planted around the Civil War Monument
Library Flowers - a floral
arrangement or a plant placed weekly at the main circulation desk
Senior
Center - plant the tubs
at the entrance; twice annually, summer and winter
Communications Committee Keep all Club members aware of the Club’s activities
Calling - telephone
members who do not to receive emails to inform them of current events
E-mail - send out computer messages of current Club
events
Grapevine - newsletter mailed to
all members five times a year with occasional special issues
Social Liaison - Contact
person to receive all RSVPs for events, maintains records to make reservations
or notify participants of changes
Extra Events Committee Plan activities outside the regular monthly meetings, often
with additional cost
Garden
Treks - Summer treks are made to members'
gardens and to other noteworthy gardens
Social
get together - monthly dinners & lunches at local restaurants
Road
Trips -visits to interesting locations or events
Workshops
- opportunities to learn a new skill, led by an instructor
Fundraising Committee Create revenue to support scholarships and other Club activities
Plant Sale - ALL members are expected to help this
event
Sales - Order and sell items such as cookbooks, aprons and garden gloves
Governance Committee Oversee requirements for the smooth operation of the Club
Constitution and Bylaws - ensure the Club’s compliance
and propose amendments as necessary
Nominating - secure
officers and important committee chairs in accordance with policies
Policy Book - Create and implement
a record of procedures for various circumstances
Holiday Decorations Decorate
historic buildings in Sudbury
for the winter holidays
Hosmer House - create a
unified design for the front hall within the yearly theme
Wayside Inn - oversee the unified effort of many local
garden clubs to decorate 12 various rooms within a bi-annual theme and create
and install decorations for spaces assigned to the SGC
Horticulture Committee Advance knowledge of flora through oral and written presentations
Media Committee Create and
record the Club’s public image
Historian - Create and
maintain the SGC scrap books with photos and press clippings, etc.
Press book - Collect all
news about the Club which appears in print
Publicity
Committee - Liaison to the media for all relevant Club news

Site Committee – Update and maintain the Garden Club website
Meeting Committee Oversee all aspects of the Club’s monthly meetings
Annual Meeting - plan the final
meeting in June, usually a luncheon with election of officers
Holiday
Brunch - plan the December meeting, usually a brunch
Homes - arrange
locations for Board Meetings
Programs Committee - create the schedule of monthly
presentations and speakers
Tea Committee - assign
members to hostess the monthly teas
Members Committee Oversee all
matters pertaining to Club members
Membership Committee -
assist new members, members changing membership categories, and coordinate
annual membership renewals
Sunshine
Committee - provide support to members in time of celebration or difficulty
Outreach Committee Create connections with the
community at-large
Garden Therapy - provide garden related activities for
seniors and shut-ins
Junior Gardeners - create
a program for young people to enhance their knowledge and appreciation of
horticulture
Philanthropy Committee Oversee the charitable donations of the Club
Scholarship Committee –
Makes recommendations to the Board concerning scholarship applications
Silver
Plate Committee - Create gift baskets for a local needy family at Thanksgiving,
Christmas and Easter as donations allow
Yearbook Committee Produce
and edit the members’ annual Yearbook
